Cell outing @ Marina Barrage (20/3/10)

Best people ever. Cornerstone Generations 6.6!

Today had cell outing @ Marina Barrage, my first time there! (:

Me, Yvonne and Beverly were in charge of preparing sandwiches for our picnic there so yeah. Sandwiches were supposedly best made fresh so we decided to make them just before we leave the house to meet the rest today. Yvonne made cheese sandwiches @ home, me and Beverly did tuna and egg sandwiches together.

7am: Woke up and got changed/prepared.

7.45am: Left house and boarded bus.

8am: Reached Beverly's doorstep.

8.10am: Beverly left house. Headed to minimart (5min walk away) to buy bread. Realised Bev didn't bring money down + I didn't bring enough cash also (wasn't expecting to spend on anything LOL). Decided to rush back and start by preparing the egg spread for the sandwiches first.

8.20am: Reached Bev's house and realised the eggs in her fridge had disappeared overnight LOL. Had no choice but to quickly run back down to minimart to purchase both eggs and bread.

8.25am: Left house again.

8.26am: Realised it was beginning to rain. Went back into house to get umbrella.

8.35am: Reached Bev's house with ingredients.

The egg spread for the egg sandwiches needed mayonnaise but Bev hated it and said she wanted to try having scrambled eggs on the sandwiches instead. While she used 2 eggs (first try to scramble was a failure) and went about scrambling them, I completed the tuna sandwiches. :D Just cut away the bread crusts and spread tuna. We had two cans of tuna but we managed to finish the amount of tuna sandwiches we wanted with less than a can... I finished the rest. Ate it with the bread crusts. My breakfast for the day hahahaha. ^^

We then decided not to scramble eggs for the sandwiches. Boiled like 7 eggs, peeled them, put them all in a bowl and used an egg whisk to mash them LOL. Added mayo + salt + pepper then spread them over the bread. Our first time making egg sandwiches. ^^ Finished making all our sandwiches at like, 10am. Was supposed to meet cell @ Pasir Ris MRT at 10.45am, so if we were to be there on time we had only 20min to pack up the messy kitchen + leave the house!

Bev went to change her clothes + pack her belongings while I help pack the food and whatnot. Yvonne was at our bus stop waiting for us. Took bus to MRT station together where we waited for Lilian and her sister, Jane, to arrive. Boarded MRT to Marina Bay at like 11am. Once we reached there at about 11.30am, waited for Nick + Vivian + Rosemary + Daniel to arrive from their own side of Singapore HAHA. By then it was about noon. Took shuttle bus to Marina Barrage, it was raining! So sad right. ):

But turned out a little to be a blessing in disguise because the grass there was so wet and cooling. Me like!

Had picnic at the shelter until past 1.30pm. Played Om Om Chaki and some number guessing game. Forfeit was water + chips/beehoon/bread crusts wthhhh. Mad disgusting lah the guys even wanted to add mayo and tuna inside!!!!! Kena sabo-ed by Nick so I had to eat the forfeit with bread. So disgusting laaaaaah, bread plus normal water already disgusting enough lor, the water mixed with my bread had BBQ flavour from the chips added in. -___-

Wanted to gag/puke so badly.

Other people who had to do the forfeit were Bev, Daniel, Nick, Wayne btw.

Skip skip skip. After we packed our food and everything, walked all the way to the top of the field!

Was still drizzling but super windy and cooling too!! Flew our Ultraboy kite, me and Lilian call it Ultrakite! :D

I flew it until the 100+m string was used to the max lor. Haha! Also took pictures with Cuixia, our photographer for the day. ^^v Both of us kept trying to take photogenic photos for Facebook profile picture LOL.

Played around a lot in between 2pm to like, 5pm or later. Monkey soccer with Nick, Shuenjin, Daniel, Marc, Wayne, Jane, Bev and Chanel! Laugh and smile until my jaw aching hahahahah. After that we took a break, then I took Cuixia's dSLR and went around snapping shots. Really amazing. (: Suddenly am interested in photography again!

There was this once where I felt so mad bitter and said, "You know why people become bitter? Because all the sweetness is gone." Well after that, I checked Facebook's God Wants You To Know application and it said something about finding sweetness in God's creations. Kids playing, bird chirping and so much more. Today, as I walked many, many rounds about the rooftop of Marina Barrage I kept looking out for stuff I could shoot. I've found so much in just being able to see things at a different angle and being able to appreciate its essence of beauty.

Couples sitting together, having time to themselves. Families, like husband and wife sitting in silence together with a kite flying high and a baby in a pram next to them. Or a dad teaching his son how to fly a kite. People, like this girl whom I saw with an arm in a cast, yet still excited about flying her kite. Or a handicapped father and his son pushing him, and helping his dad try fly a kite nevertheless. There was so much more in the lives of others that I had scanned through in that 1 hour of walking around, and I've managed to not just see and recognise this "sweetness" in God's creation, but capture them on camera too. Who thought that God's creation, although so simple, could be so beautiful? (:

My feet were muddy to the max so I went to the toilet to wash them squeaky clean~

Left the place at about 7pm with cell, took shuttle bus back to Marina Bay MRT together. Me, Bev, Yvonne and Chanel headed home by MRT while the rest went to have dinner together. :D Reached home at 9pm, had dinner with mummy. It's 12.30AM now and I'm so exhausted!!!

But I look back on today and I truly thank God for the laughter and happiness today.

Such joy is so precious. I shall not take that for granted. (: Gonna go bathe + handwash my clothes (kena mud lorrrrrrrrrrrr! /whine), then K.O. on my bed.
